Professional Sewer Cleaning & Repair
M ister Sewer is a prompt, courteous professional
company dedicated to sewer cleaning and
repair. Founded in 2009 by Jason Daugherty of
Upper St. Clair, the company has from the start worked to
help homeowners with various plumbing issues, includ-
ing sewer cleaning and repair. But a very important and
unique priority for Mister Sewer is helping homeowners
comply with new sewer regulations in several South Hills
communities. The company’s mission is to provide cli-
ents with “trenchless sewer repair,” a less invasive method
of pipeline rehabilitation than traditional excavation.
"Our relationships are built on trust," says Jason, noting
that his company started on this path long before many
other companies jumped into it. “Our solutions are
designed to be easy on your property and on your wal-
let,” he continues. “We have the tools and 25-plus years
of experience in the business to solve your problems effi-
ciently and on budget. Trenchless sewer repair means the
work gets done quickly, efficiently and with no mess.”
So, what does it take to satisfy both the customer and Mt.
Lebanon Municipality, where older lateral lines may have
blockages that cause backups in basements and, if not cor-
rected, might even affect the potential sale of a property?
First, when you have a problem, Mister Sewer determines
whether your sewer needs drain snaking, sewer repair or
replacement. "We clean the sewer first," said Jason. A spe-
cial, expensive attachment for his hose truck, the Warthog,
is attached to the end of the high-pressure green hose. "It
can clean out any clog in just minutes." A recent local job
using the high pressure attachment cleared a blocked line
in only six minutes, which Jason says is “pretty typical.”
In addition to working on routine repairs and replace-
ments, Mister Sewer has expertise in dealing with the
ordinances Brentwood, Baldwin and Upper St. Clair have
enacted requiring sewer inspections, and is preparing to
respond to the ordinance Mt. Lebanon is considering.
Each municipality handles the process a little differently,
so Mister Sewer’s plumbers and technicians need to be
experts on the specifics of the municipal ordinances and
understand the procedures and permits that are required.
Mister Sewer can deal with any sort of sewer problem a
Mt. Lebanon homeowner might experience, and Jason is
proud to be able to provide references from both former
clients and the real estate community. If an ordinance is
enacted in Mt. Lebanon that requires inspection of the lat-
eral line before a home is sold, as is expected, Jason says he
will ensure his staff is properly certified and trained to fol-
low the guidelines in the ordinance, including identifying
sewer defect classification and repair categories. And he
pledges that his company’s work to correct any problems
will be cost effective and as non-invasive as possible.
Jason urges homeowners to take care in selecting a
plumbing company. Cheap is not always best, he cau-
tions, and experience such as Mister Sewer has counts,
Once the camera inspection is complete, the lateral line
is returned to service and can be used immediately. The
process takes about one day from start to finish.
Mister Sewer then can provide whatever certification a
municipality requires to validate that the line is clear.
Trenchless repair is a better option for many reasons,
Jason points out: It saves money. It’s not invasive. There
is no damage to repair. It saves time. It’s not disruptive.
There are no long-term labor costs. And your new pipes
will last a lifetime. Jason knows there are many plumbing

the blockage.
companies that seek Mt. Lebanon homeowners’ business,
and he encourages people to do their due diligence before
hiring his or any company. “Call before you dig,” he says.
That’s the beauty of trenchless sewer repair. It’s a simple
three-step process that can correct a blockage in your lat-
eral line while leaving your driveway and yard intact.
He is proud that his company is locally owned, not part
of a chain, and recommends that people check his user
friendly website, MisterSewer.com for additional information.
The phone number, 412-835-2135, appears at the top
of the homepage; click on it and you will reach, not a
receptionist, but Jason himself. He talks to each customer
about the specific problem, discusses various options and
sets up a time to meet.
STEP ONE: A video camera is inserted into the sewer
and is used to diagnose the location of the problem and
develop a clear plan for what needs to be done. The video
inspection lets the experts see the size of the pipe and its
condition before any work begins.
STEP TWO: Mister Sewer accesses the blockage from
the pipe’s shallowest point, by using an excavator to create
a small hole. As they dig, they are careful to ensure the
walls are stable. Once the scope of the repair is deter-
mined, the pipe is cleaned using both a hydrojetter and
a mechanical snake. A plumber stands by ready to cut
out the broken pipe and attach new fixtures at the right
time, including a new liner that is inserted into the host
pipe and left to cure.
STEP THREE: After the pipe has fully cured, the new
liner is inspected again with the video camera to ensure
free flow to the municipal main sewer line in the street.
“IF YOU’RE THINKING OF SELLING YOUR HOME,
CALL MISTER SEWER FIRST,” ADVISES JASON.
“I feel that the connection when a customer talks directly to
me is different than when they talk to a receptionist. They're
getting answers," he explains. Jason has a vision for both
his website and his company: "Clear and focused," he says.
“That's what we try to be."
